*** New 12-Digit MRN/FIN Field Validation Type ***
A new Field Validation Type called MRN/FIN (12-digit) is available in REDCap
To accommodate the new expanded MRN/FIN 12-digit identifiers, a new text field validation type has been added to REDCap called MRN/FIN (12-digit). Any forms or surveys currently collecting data that use the FIN/MRN validation type must be changed to this new validation type or you will not be able to enter 12-digit identifiers. Forms/surveys that have completed data collection will not be affected.
Please keep in mind the following when using this new validation type:
* When entering "old" 10-digit identifiers, you will need to enter two preceding zeros.
* Existing 10-digit numbers in a field with 12-digit validation will not be affected unless edits are performed.
* After applying the new validation to current projects, if editting an existing 10-digit identifier, the validation will prevent saving until the two preceding zeros are added.
